Trebuchet - aka 'Fruit Chucker'
As a part of the physics courses, I wrote several papers on various topics. Two topics I wrote about, along with several group members, were about heatsinks and radio wave propagation. I also built a small scale trebuchet to demonstrate that limes really do want to be airborne. A 10 lb counterweight is the propulsion behind my device, but I estimate that if more weight was added the distance would increase. The distances I achieved with this trebuchet were less than 50 feet, but it was fun to construct and I still periodically take it out and toss small vegetables and fruits.
