In January 2004, three Iowa State alums and I founded our own business, Open Engineering, LLC, to research and develop several ideas into marketable products. Most of our efforts have been made towards developing products on an embedded system using Intel ARM processors and Linux. By using open source software and low cost hardware, we are developing products to reduce the costs of currently available systems. My role with the company is to mainly research technologies that are available on the market now and research lower cost options we can utilize for our systems. I also manage our website, submit my own ideas for development at board meetings, and build, code, and test our prototypes.
